America's Got Talent

America's Got Talent is a reality show that airs on the NBC Network. The show is similar to American Idol in that it looks for various forms of talent in "average" people. However, this show is distinct because instead of just looking for singers, it features contestants with various types of talents. America's Got Talent will frequently feature comedians, singers, magicians, and dancers. In addition, there are no age limits that are placed on the contestants (where American Idol has an age limit for their contestants). The winner of the competition will be given $1 million, and a chance to appear at another show to demonstrate their skills. This show was created by Simon Cowell, who is also a judge on American Idol.

During the audition rounds, three judges have a button in front of them that they can press if they don't want the audition to continue. When the button is pressed, an electronic bell is activated, and a large red colored X will show the judge's name in lights. If the third button is pressed, a different sound will be heard, and this will indicate that the performance of the contestant has been stopped. The judges will then be asked if the contestant should be allowed to continue, and two judges must issue their approval. If they do not, the performance of the contestant will end. During the semifinal stage, the judges are not allowed to stop the performance.

Season Two of America's Got Talent

While the second season of this show was originally supposed to air in January of 2007, the producers decided against it, since it would require them to compete with American Idol, a show that was much more popular and well known. The show is planned for the summer of 2007, which is the season in which the show aired for the first time successfully. While Simon Cowell is the creator of the show, he does not appear in the judging panel.

Season One of America's Got Talent

This season was hosted by Regis Philbin, and David Hasselhoff acted as one of the judges. In addition to Hasselhoff, the R&B singer Brandy served as a judge, as well as Piers Morgan, who is a renown journalist. It should be noted that none of the judges know anything about the talent of the contestants before they perform. Because of the popularity of American Idol on Fox, some have said that this show was created as NBC's answer to the rival network. The auditions for season one were held in major cities such as Atlanta, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

Season one featured some very diverse acts. It had a 73 year old rapper, singers, jugglers, dancers, acrobatics, and even a yodelist. One contest played the harmonica. The winner of season one was Bianca Ryan, whose talent was singing. She was 11 years old at the time the show aired.

America’s Got Talent: Ventriloquist Terry Fator Wins!
Posted: 22 Aug 2007
The AGT finale had everything – fireworks, dancers, special guests (including Sean Kingston, Taylor Swift, and Stomp Out Loud), and performances by the final four, the top ten, and the best of the worst.  Oh yeah, and some of the Muppets were there too!  We also saw last year’s runner-up, Quick Change.  I don’t know [...]

Bo Bice
Posted: 17 Aug 2007
Bo Bice was the runner up in the fourth season of American Idol.  The fans loved his deep baritone style as well as his ability to incorporate soul, country, blues, and rock. Bo was born in Huntsville, Alabama in 1975.  His given name is Harold Elwin, but his grandmother nicknamed him Bogart as a child and [...]

America’s Got Talent: Who’s in the Finals?
Posted: 14 Aug 2007
Tonight, the contestants were cut from eight to four. Didn’t they do this differently last year? I thought I remembered only Bianca Ryan and Quick Change being in the finals. It seemed much more dragged out last year. Anyhow, the people who made it into the finals were no surprise to anyone I don’t think. Cas [...]

America’s Got Talent: The Final 8 Are Chosen
Posted: 8 Aug 2007
The final 8 acts moving on were chosen tonight.  I hated the way they did it – calling one name at a time, and then allowing that act to perform.  The final 8 chosen were Robert Hatcher, Julienne Irwin, Terry Fator, Cas Haley, Jason Pritchett, the Glamazons, Butterscotch, and Sideswipe.  Guess Piers badmouthing the kids [...]
