A chat with Andrew Stern, one of the millionaires featured on Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker
Recently I had the opportunity to communicate with one of the millionaires featured on the Bravo reality program “The Millionaire Matchmaker”, Andrew Stern. Drew Stern is the founder of the 3-D social networking site called riplounge.com. I’ve always wondered why someone who is so rich would go on a reality dating program. Drew stated that while a motivating factor in his decision to go on the show was to gain publicity for his businesses (specifically riplounge.com and seedcornadv.com), he was open to the opportunity to meet someone special in his life. Drew explained to me that while he never had problems meeting women he was having a hard time meeting the “right” woman.
I was also curious as to how the dates would be filmed. Did the camera and crew hide behind plants at a restaurant spying on the whole event, or did the crew intervene, saying that they didn’t get something on tape or that this would be filmed better if you stood somewhere else. Drew said that on his date with Whitney happened very naturally and organically but the director did pull him aside and tell him that since the date was going well, why didn’t he take it to the next level and get more romantic. So Drew did – he started making out with Whitney shortly after this suggestion! When I asked Drew if he did anything differently because he was being filmed on the date, he responded that he might not normally be so romantic on a first date.
I asked him if he thought that Patty Stanger did a good job at finding some potential “right” women for him. Drew stated that while the women that he met at the mixer were all pretty and charming they didn’t seem to fit the parameters he provided. For example, only one of the women was Jewish ( and Drew stated that this was important to him) and that he liked tall women generally, but only one of the women at the mixer was what he considered tall.
I asked him if he’d go back and do it all again. Drew stated that if he felt it benefitted his business and personal life a little sacrifice on his part was worth it!
