AI – 12 Female Finalists
Man, the ladies really brought their A game tonight. Maybe they already had it in them or maybe they got scared after the guy’s last night, but they really shined tonight.
Stephanie started the night out strong. Paula said “What a performer!” Simon said she was a million times better than any guy performance they saw last night. Amy however didn’t fair as well. Randy thought it was too safe and Simon said she had the personality of a candle (whatever THAT means!). Said her performance was forgettable and he was right. I like Leslie, but I knew the minute she started singing that song, she was going to get jumped on for it being too big for her. Simon said she looked like she was out of her comfort zone. Sabrina pleased the judges. Simon said she was the one to beat so far, that she honestly acting like she wanted to win. Antonella…poor Antonella. I wasn’t even sure how she got through – I knew some of the other singers were just going to eat her alive. Her performance was pitchy and not good. Simon said it seriously damaged her chances of staying another night.
Jordin, singing Gimme One Reason, was told by Randy that no song was too big for her and told her to challenge herself. Simon told Nicole her song was indulgent, aggressive, and unnatural. She fought back, but even Randy said it was too urban. Haley was just okay, nothing special. Melinda got the first “the bomb” from Randy this season. Simon said a lot of the singers had little talent, but a huge amount of arrogance and Melinda was just the opposite. Alaina bored everyone with “Brass in Pocket.” I knew Simon was going to jump on the “I’m Special” lyrics and tell her she wasn’t.
Gina, I don’t really like Gina much. Randy loved her big voice and Paula said she picked the right song, but Simon said she didn’t hit the big note. She disagreed, but the Lakisha came and blew them all out of the water. So far, I think Lakisha is my favorite. Big ole voice, but not a lot of ego. Just came out and killed the competition. Even Simon said he was tempted to tell 23 other people to book a plane ticket home.
