AI: Melinda’s Still the Best – No Doubt!
Tonight’s show featured the music of No Doubt and the artists that influenced Gwen Stefani. First up was Lakisha. Randy and Paula loved the up beat tempo of Donna Summer’s “Last Dance” and Simon loved the big notes. Chris S. hit a bad note with his version of “Every Little Thing She Does is Magic” but I still had to vote for him. Gina actually did a good version of “I’ll Stand By You.” She’s not a favorite of mine nor is the song, but it wasn’t bad. Sanjaya – I am almost rendered speechless. It is like watching a train wreck every week. Is there a hair stylist on call for the contestants? Because if there is, the one who let him go out like that should be immediately put to death. I just – I don’t know anymore. As Simon said “It doesn’t matter what we say.”
Haley had a bad week. Simon called her performance “forgettable” and Paula said she looked pretty – the kiss of death from Paula. Phil did better this week with “Every Breath You Take” but them maybe it is just the fact that the Police are one of my all time favorite bands. Melinda blew everyone away again with “Heaven Knows.” It is almost ridiculous the difference between her and all the other contestants. Blake was told by Simon he was the forerunner for the guys – not a bad thing. I didn’t really care for Jordin’s version of “Hey Baby” but the judges loved it. Chris R. ended the night with a R&Bish version of “Don’t Speak.” Simon said it was much better than last week.
So who is in trouble? I am afraid Chris S is in trouble. And unless Haley’s little outfits have garnered her new fans, she may be headed for the bottom two as well. I don’t think we will see Chris R. there again, but you never know. Sanjaya – I can’t see him leaving – not yet.
