AI - Top 10 Guys Perform
Tonight started with American Idol congratulations Jennifer Hudson on her Oscar win. That was nice since she said she’d probably thank the show if she won and she didn’t. This week was a dedication song. Some of the guys brought it, some didn’t, and my favorite like totally sucked. But I still have hope.
Phil started out the nice with Randy saying it was hot. Simon thought it sounded like very, very good karaoke. Jared took on Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On.” Randy thought it was a little pitchy and Simon said it reminded him of a cabaret singer on Love Boat. Ouch. AJ did much better this week than last, but poor Sanjaya – what was he thinking? As Simon said, he was almost whispering at times. I love his voice and hope America gives him another chance, but this may be his last week.
Chris S. turned in a good performance, in which Simon called him a very good singer. Go Chris! Nick sang “Fever,” which I really didn’t care for, but Paula loved his tone. Simon said he needed to work on his charisma. Blake did a little scatting this week, and while Randy and Paula raved, Simon said he was disappointed because only the middle was original. Brandon sang “Time After Time” – a song I personally hate – and Simon said he needed more of a “wow” impact. Chris R. got the “best of the night” vote from Simon and Randy said he was in it to win it. Sundance – Sundance finally returned tonight. Hope the audience gives Sanjaya the same courtesy they showed Sundance because he has been “gone” since his audition.
