Albert Reed
Another male model joining “Dancing with the Stars” this season is Albert Reed. Reed has been featured in many clothing ads and commercials, including the Abercrombie & Fitch 2004 back-to-school catalog.
Reed was born in South Miami, Florida on March 6, 1985. His family moved to Vero Beach where Reed grew up surfing almost every day and easily adopted the casual lifestyle of surfers. He stumbled into modeling when he accompanied a friend to Miami to visit Karin Models. His friend was not signed, but Reed was and began modeling part time before he finished high school.
After graduating from Vero Beach High School, Reed moved to Miami. He continued to model and also began doing public relations work for nightclubs. His modeling work led him to Greece, Scotland, and Italy. Reed lived in Italy for six months and he was featured as the lone male model for the Spring/Summer 2004 catalog of SLAM, an Italian sportswear company. Reed’s big break came when photographer Bruce Weber took shots that appeared for Abercrombie & Fitch. One shot, with Reed sporting a LIVE TO SURF tattoo, appeared in Times Square. The photos were included in the 2004 back-to-school catalog, which was distributed to over 10 million U.S. homes. The cover of that catalog was also used for ads that appeared in Rolling Stone, GQ, Teen Vogue, and VITALS. Cosmo magazine named Reed their December 2004 Cosmo’s Guy Without His Shirt.
In 2005, Ocean Drive, a Miami based magazine, named Reed “one of the 24 freshest faces on the Miami modeling scene.” SLAM used Reed as their cover model for their Spring/Summer 2005 Sportwear Catalog. Reed is currently the national face of the Van Heusen apparel company.
His “Dancing with the Stars” partner will be Anna Trebunskaya. Anna and Jerry Rice came in second behind winners Drew Lachey and Cheryl Burke in season two of “Dancing with the Stars.” Reed is gorgeous to look at, but can he dance? Well, Anna may have her work cut out for her. Reed says, “I can’t. I got rhythm. I’m able to pull out a few dance moves in a bar or wherever. I’m not unable to dance at all, but I’m definitely not a ballroom dancer by any means.”
