Amazing Race 12: Ari and Staella are Eliminated

Ah Ari and Staella, we hardly knew ye. That is because tonight was the season premiere of Amazing Race. The teams raced from Los Angeles to Shannon, Ireland. Once the teams arrived, they had to ferry to Inismor Island and find a small church. There they would sign up for another ferry ride the next day. The first three to sign up left at 8:30, the second three to signup left at 9:00 and all the other teams would leave on the 9:30 ferry. After getting off the ferry, teams had to drive to Cleggan Farms and ride a bike to the next clue. The next clue was a roadblock – one team member had to ride a high wire bike across a windy stretch of water while the other one rode eight feet below them.

Then, each team had to fill up the baskets of a donkey with peat and lead him to the next clue. Ari and Staella and Nathan and Jennifer got very stubborn donkeys that refused to move for them as team after team passed them. Finally their donkeys began to move, but only after much time was wasted. Each team had to drive to the Connemara Heritage Centre, which was the pit stop. Azaria and Hendekea arrived first (and won a trip to Canada), Kynt and Vyxsin (the Goth couple) came in second, TK and Rachel came in third, and Lorena and Jason arrived fourth. Nicolas and Donald finished in fifth place. Shana and Jennifer, once in last place, finished in sixth place, Ronald and Christina finished in seventh, and Pat and Kate finished in eighth place. Marianna and Julia and Nathan and Jennifer raced for ninth place, with Marianna and Julia barely beating them out. Nathan and Jennifer finished in tenth place, and Ari and Staella finished last.

We saw an early alliance form between brother/sister team Azaria and Hendekea and father/daughter team Ronald and Christina. We also saw Nathan and Jennifer argue almost the entire episode. Azaria and Hendekea proved to be a strong team, but can they continue to lead the pack next week?
