Amazing Race 9, episode 6 Eliminates Dave and Lori
Unfortunately, the dating twosome from Manhattan was eliminated on last nights episode of the Amazing Race. The self proclaimed “nerds” just couldn’t keep up the fast pace of the race, with the morning traffic ultimately leading to their demise. Although the team had some amusing squabbles as the race went on, the two ended the race just as it began, by proclaiming their love for each other. So I guess everyone won!
The seven remaining teams explored Sicily and Italy during this leg of the race. Team members were first instructed to drive to an amphitheater, search for the groundskeeper, and then count the heads on fence posts around the theater. Their next task was Big Fish vs. Little Fish. In this leg teams were given the choice to carry a 32 pound swordfish 1/3 of a mile to a market, or going to the same market and selling four kilos of small fish as a vendor. A team member from each team then went on to score a goal while playing kayak polo.
I have to say that to me, this season has been somewhat of a disappointment. In some of the past seasons teams were challenged both mentally and physically throughout the race. This season, teams seem to be just going through the motions, with the only real challenges being traffic. I hope things get more exciting as the race continues.
So, as for the remaining teams:
Eric and Jeremy were first out of the gate, and he first to arrive at the Pitstop. They cruised through all the tasks, without too many troubles. With Dani and Danielle gone, the frat boys didn’t have anything to entertain them with outside of the race. There seems to be some weird feelings brewing between them and BJ and Tyler, who they were once working with. They seem to feel that the hippies are just following them.
BJ and Tyler once again brought personality and excitement to the race. Their antics started by posting a funny fake sign-in sheet at the gate to the first challenge, and ended with their amusing launch on to the pitstop mat. They too make a snide comment about their past partners, the frat boys saying They’re definitely dumb, but people who are dumb wind up having the best luck.
Joseph and Monica hung in for another week. Monica had a break down during Big Fish challenge as she had a hard time carrying the fish through the market, looking for the vendor. They managed to hold it together to the end, and were third into the pitstop.
Fran and Berry continue to have fun while doing better and better. Seeing every clue box during this leg of the race, they held their place and came in 4th. The two, recognizing their limitations were the only team to choose to do Little Fish, and did a great job with it. Barry struggled a little with the kayak polo challenge, but managed to pull through.
Lake and Michelle continue to bicker at each other, but continue to do okay. They flew through the fish challenge, but Michelle struggled with the kayak polo challenge. Lake got increasingly irritated as Michelle was unable to get a goal. He felt he should have done the challenge, of course.
Ray and Yolanda once again, barely escaped being eliminated. They got stuck in morning traffic, and made the decision to get out of the car and walk, which may have saved them. I have decided I think the reason the twosome haven’t done better so far is because they are intimidating to other people. Because they are both so buff and attractive, people are reluctant to help them. I don’t know, their lack of success is still a mystery to me. This team also excelled at the fish challenge, but Ray immediately went overboard in the kayak in kayak polo. He managed to compose himself, and chuck the ball halfway across the field to make a goal.
David and Lori continued to squabble, and were just not fast enough to stay in the race. Although they didn’t have any major problems, they just didn’t have what it took to stay in the race.- ELIMINTAED.
As for next week, I am once again predicting that it will either be Fran and Berry or Lake and Michelle eliminated. Personally, I would like to see Lake and Michelle eliminated, as I just really don’t like them.
