Lake and Michelle Eliminated- Finally!
It was a good week for Amazing Race fans everywhere as Lake and Michelle were finally booted out of the race. I can appreciate the excitement the couple brought to the race, but the more I watched them, the more I became annoyed with them. His “My Shit Don’t Stink Attitude” and her “Yes, Honey, Whatever you say Honey” attitude just made me sad. As long as it works for them, more power to them, but I am happy I don’t have to watch it anymore.
The race this week took the teams to Rome where they searched for a clue in carriages and needed to solve a clue inspired by the DaVini Code, then on to Greece, where they were all given the option of attempting to do the Fast Forward, which was smashing thousands of plates, looking for a single ticket. The teams’ bungee jumped, and were given the choice between participating in Greek games or solving a puzzle.
Eric and Jeremy continue to dominate the Race, and did it very quickly this week by winning the Fast Forward.
Joseph and Monica seemed completely perplexed to be in Italy and Greece. I think this leg of the trip made everything worthwhile for them, even though Monica has struggled the last few weeks. Monica admits that the race is like a rollercoaster to her, with so many ups and downs. She has cried on several occasions because the pressure has just been too much. They have proved themselves in the race, and have earned their places amongst the top teams.
Ray and Yolanda did a lot better this week, despite the fact that Ray had an extremely hard time with the Javelin throw. Unfortunately for them, they actually arrived in second place, but because of a mix up with a bus vs. train, they had to wait out a 15 minute penalty, allowing Joseph and Monica to take second place.
The big news this week was the fact that BJ and Tyler narrowly avoided getting eliminated, when they got lost and drove an hour in the wrong direction. If it wasn’t for Lake and Michelle having difficulties finding the Pitstop, they would be gone. The looks on their faces was priceless as they stepped onto the mat and Phil announced they were in Fifth place. The tension built as they found out that they had also received a 15 minute penalty and had to wait to see if Lake and Michelle would make it to the Pitstop in those 15 minutes. Relieved, exhausted and overwhelmed, the hippies each gave Phil a big kiss when he announced they were officially the 5th team to arrive.
Fran and Berry had what seemed to be another rewarding and exciting week. Fran conquered her fear of Bungee Jumping, and Barry managed to back the car into a tree and knocked out their back window.
I was actually very surprised that this was another elimination round. They have had very few this season. It seems like the next few rounds will need to be non-elimination rounds if they want to stretch out the season. Next week should be interesting as we get down to the final teams. Unfortunately, I think it is probably time for Fran and Barry to go home. I have come to be a big fan, but they just won’t be able to compete for much longer.
