Amazing Race: Anita and Arthur are Eliminated
Eleven teams started out this seasons’ Amazing Race, but only one would win the big money at the end of the season. The eleven teams are:
Toni and Dallas (mother and son)
Nick and Starr (brother and sister)
Ken and Tina (separated husband and wife)
Aja and Ty (long distance daters)
Marisa and Brooke (southern belles/best friends)
Andres and Dan (frat brother best friends)
Anthony and Stephanie (dating for four years)
Anita and Arthur (hippie married beekeepers)
Kelly and Christy (divorced friends)
Terence and Sarah (newly dating)
Mark and Bill (comic book geeks/best friends)
The teams left L.A. for Salvador, Brazil. Aja and Ty arrived at LAX first, but went to the wrong counter. Nick and Starr decided to call Ken and Tina “mom and dad” and form a loose alliance. They had to travel to a sandwich shop upon arrival. Luckily for Sarah, she spoke Portuguese. The next clue was to become a barista old school style. They had to deliver a cart filled with candy to a guy in a plaza. We learned that Ken cheated on Tina and he is out to prove his love for her.
Next clue was to go to a military base and spend the night outside in a tent. There were three departure times for the next day – 9:00 am, 9:30 am, and 9:45 am. Sarah and Terrance arrived first. Kelly and Christy were lost – well, not necessarily them, but their taxi driver. Poor Toni and Dallas were in last place, behind Anita and Arthur. Starr struck up a conversation with Dallas, who she thought was hot.
The teams had to travel to Pelourinho and locate a church for the next clue. It was a detour – hard way up (go up stairway on hands and knees then answer mystery question) or soft way down (go to elevator then climb down cargo net 240 feet below). Everyone opts for cargo net except the frat boys. The mystery question was how many steps you climbed. They didn’t count, gave the wrong number, and had to climb them again. Nick and Starr were in first and had to make their way to the Forte Sao Marcelo for the pit stop. They opt to walk to the fort while Ken and Tina take a taxi.
Nick and Starr finish first and won a trip to Belize, but I am not sure I like them. For some reason, they just rub me a bit wrong. Ken and Tina came in second and Terence and Sarah came in third. Mark and Bill finished fourth. Kelly and Christy were team #5. Toni and Dallas made up good time and finished in sixth. Andrew and Dan finished seventh, Aja and Ty finished eighth, Anthony and Stephanie finished ninth. Marisa and Brooke beat out Anita and Arthur and they were eliminated.
