Amazing Race: Brad and Victoria are Eliminated
The teams of “Amazing Race” left Austria for Bucharest, Romania. Victor and Tammy got out on an early flight, but that flight had to return due to problems. That put them on the second flight and allowed several teams to get in front of them. Brad and Victoria ended up on a flight by themselves (rarely a good plan) and when the flight ran late, found themselves stuck in Amsterdam overnight. I hate when someone gets eliminated that way rather than because of their own bonehead moves.
The first clue was at the gymnastic hall where Nadia Comaneci trained. The Roadblock was to perform certain tasks on the balance beam, parallel bars, and a floor exercise. Amanda breezed through it and they were in first. It was funny seeing Mike up on the balance beam. The first group had left by the time the second group arrived, but Tammy and Victor feel further behind as she just choked on the balance beam. She couldn’t do a cartwheel, but finally finished.
The next clue was to travel by train to Brasov, Transylvania to the Biserica Neagra Church. At the church, there was a Detour – Gypsy Moves (to load and move a Gypsy family) or Vampire Remains (drag a coffin down a hill, unlock and untangle chains around it, then get the frames out of it and impale each one until the hidden flag was found). The Gypsy Moves was tough, as they had to load stuff like half a car, tires, etc.
Victor and Tammy chose Vampire Remains, but, while looking for markings to the coffins, Victor mistakenly started following red lines on trees. He and Tammy seemed to climb the hill forever while the other teams easily found the red and yellow arrows. Tammy kept saying it was wrong, but Victor wouldn’t listen, even after finding an arrow that pointed both ways. Finally, after breaking down and crying, he listened to Tammy and they went back down the hill. After finally finding the right path and dragging the coffin down, they realized they had lost the second key on the way down. Fortunately, Victor found the key.
Kris and Amanda finished the Gypsy Moves first, but he lost his fanny pak and that let Mike and Mel take the lead. They finished in first, winning a trip to Costa Rica. Kris and Amanda finished second. Third place went to Kisha and Jen while Margie and Luke finished fourth. Michael and Mark barely beat Christie and Jodi for fifth place, but they seemed happy with sixth. Jaime and Cara finished seventh – hey, at least they weren’t second to the last this week!
While the show tried to make it look like Brad and Victoria might have a chance due to Tammy and Victor’s problems, Tammy and Victor arrived in seventh, while Brad and Victoria arrived well after dark and were eliminated.
