Amazing Race: Christie and Jodi are Eliminated
No big surprise this week on “Amazing Race” when Christie and Jodi were eliminated. They had not proven themselves to be the fastest competitors (even though I think they finished first on one leg) plus they had the speed bump to overcome after finishing in last place last week.
The teams went from the cold of Siberia to the heat of India. There was a scare for Mike and Mel when their clueless taxi driver left them with their bags locked in the trunk of the cab! Christie and Jodi didn’t have much better luck as their cabbie stopped to refuel during the race. All teams seemed to be touched by the poverty they saw in India, with Luke and Jaime breaking down and crying after seeing children eating garbage.
The teams used phones to call for their first clue, which was to go to Amber Fort. The Roadblock was for one team member to choose a group of camels, and then use tools to load and carry food and water for each of the camels. Victor and Tammy were there first and despite trying to feed the camels with the water bucket at first, they finished quickly. Poor Mel had to carry the water in the bucket and you could tell it was taking a toll on him. Mike, understandably, was worried about him, but Mel noticed the larger buckets and started using them, so the father/son team was in second when they left.
The next clue was to go to Johri Bazar and find the Rsjasthani puppet store (shop 131). At the store was the Detour – Movers (peddle a rickshaw loaded with barrels a mile and a half through the crowded streets then search for a small metal elephant in the barrels) or Shakers (join a dance troop in traditional makeup and costumes then dance until they earned 100 rupees). Everyone chose to dance except Mark and Michael. Mike noted that despite the horrible poverty there, the people are festive. Christie and Jodi had the speed bump, so they had to paint an elephant for a festival.
The pit stop was Jaigur Fort. Tammy and Victor arrived first and won two kayaks. Second place went to Mel and Mike (these two are my favorite team), third place went to Kisha and Jen and fourth place went to Margie and Luke. Jaime and Cara finished fifth and Mark and Michael barely finished in sixth, putting the flight attendants Christie and Jodi in last again and thus being eliminated this week.
