Amazing Race: Mel and Mike are Eliminated
The “Amazing Race” teams left India for Thailand. They had to find their first clue by having someone tell them the picture they had of the gorilla statue was at the Phuket zoo. Pool Mel and Mike got off to a bad start when their cabbie told them the statue was at the beach. They finally got headed in the right direction, but only after everyone else had had pics taken with the tigers then had the elephants walk over them.
Teams then had to find the oldest herbs shop in Phuket and find the next clue located in one of 99 drawers. The poor guy behind the counter had to open the drawers chosen by the teams and he seemed confused, but Jaime and Cara were a bit rude to him (as they were their cabbie). Although Jaime and Cara were there first, they were the last to get the clue – well, other than Mel and Mike. Again, Mel and Mike were at a disadvantage because everyone else was gone by the time they got there, so they had to search on their own. I thought it was funny when Mike said they liked everyone except Jaime because she was a “mean girl.”
The next clue was a Detour – 100 barrels (fill 47 barrels of a ship with water then load 53 empty fish barrels to the top deck) or 2 miles (carry a rickshaw 2 miles to a park). Mark and Mike got there first and did the rickshaw, but they did two no-nos – they put the pumps laid out to use on the wheels back in the box to hinder the other teams and they followed their cabbie to the park.
Mark and Mike finished first, but endured two 30 minute penalties for the infractions. At the harbor, Mel and Mike filled the water barrels while passing the others up to the top deck. Kisha and Jen didn’t think about that until they saw them doing it.
Tammy and Victor finished first, Jaime and Cara finished second, and then Mark and Mel were finally checked in. If they had only suffered one penalty, I think they still would have finished in first instead of third. Margie and Luke finished in fourth, but having had to carry the rickshaw because she couldn’t give Luke directions, Margie passed out. They called an ambulance for her, but she was okay after she cooled down and got some water.
Kisha and Jen finished fourth right ahead of Mel and Mike, who were eliminated. I hate that – Mel and Mike had such a good attitude while some of the other teams are a bit – well, let’s just say less positive.
