Amazing Race: Nick and Starr Win!
This was it – the Amazing Race final three teams! I pretty much find the final three teams – Nick and Starr, Ken and Tina, and Frat Boys Andrew and Dan – all annoying, with Ken and Tina being the least annoying. Tonight found the teams leaving Moscow for Portland, Oregon, the final destination. Okay, it is pronounced Ore-gun or Ore-gone? Anyhow, the three remaining teams all got on the same flight going through Frankfurt to Portland.
Once they got to Portland, they encountered a Detour – High and Dry (climb up a tree then walk across a log and leap through the air to get the clue – if anyone falls, they have to start over) or Low and Wet (walk 850 across water on floating logs). As usual, the Frat Boys got a lame cabbie and were lost. If Tina is scared of heights, why did she and Ken choose High and Dry?
After completing the Detour, the teams had to travel to the Bridge of the Gods, then take a zip line 2,000 feet to the next clue. Again, Tina was freaking out, but once she did it, she was talking about how cool it was. The next task was to search for photos of detours, roadblocks, route info, and pit stops from the first 10 legs of the race. The team had to find a pic from the corresponding leg from 150 clue boxes. By this time, it was pretty much a race between Nick and Starr and Ken and Tina.
The team had to go to downtown to find a green dinosaur, which was holding their next clue. The clue was to find a Russian food cart. Nick and Starr located it first, even though Starr thought the Italian flag was the Russian flag. The teams then had to go where the magic was in the hole – Voodoo Doughnut. Both teams were lucky enough to find people to decipher the “magic in the hole” clue. However, Ken and Tina’s woman told them that Nick and Starr took the long way around. Nick and Starr still got there first, but it was really close. Next up – the finish line!
Each team tried to get a cab, but was having difficulty. Ken even offered a guy $50 to get out of the cab and give it to them, but it didn’t work. Both finally got cabs and the race was on. While Starr called it a “life or death situation,” Ken and Tina prayed.
And the winners were…Nick and Starr. Blech, I really wanted Ken and Tina to win. One touching moment was when Ken gave Tina a ring and told her he wanted to start over and do it right this time. I figured the Frat Boys would have to be told they were third at the field of 150 clue boxes, but they finally came running in. And so, another season of Amazing Race has ended.
