Amazing Race: Zev and Justin are Eliminated
This week’s “Amazing Race” was a heartbreaker for me. The teams left the Unification Palace for Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Or as Zev liked to call it, Sean Penn, Cambodia.
After getting their next “assignment” from an editor at the Foreign Correspondence Club, the teams set off to look for a hotel that had a suite named after the lady in a picture. Seriously, no one recognized Jackie O? Am I that old? After a while most everyone realized it was her although Canaan still thought it was Queen Elizabeth.
The teams had a Detour – cover (sell four motorcycle helmets to a family for $10) or wrap (search a busy, crowded market for ladies wearing certain scarves). Lance and Keri were the only ones that chose cover. Lance has been so aggressive, I was kind of hoping their choice would put them behind, but it didn’t.
Zev and Justin found a really great cabbie that took them exactly where they had to be and they lead most of the race. Next up was a Roadblock. One contestant had to mimic monkey moves on a beam. Zev had a bit of trouble with it and Sam and Dave caught up and passed them, but Zev and Justin made it to the Wat Phnom pit stop first.
There was just one problem – Zev’s passport was missing. Phil told them they would have to go back and find it and make it back before the last team arrived. Sam and Dan, who arrived in second, were moved up to first place. Flight Time and Big Easy showed up in third, Gary and Matt finished in fourth, and Meghan and Cheyne finished in fifth. Lance scared Phil with his roundhouse kick as they finished in sixth. Does he not realize he finished towards the bottom of the pack every pit stop?
Mika and Canaan, who had been running in last most of the episode, finished seventh and then Maria and Tiffany showed up in eighth. Phil told them they were last, but that a team had showed up without their travel documents, so they were still in the race.
Despite calling their cabbie and retracing their steps, Zev and Justin never found the passport, so they were eliminated. It was so sad to see them go from first to being eliminated within minutes.
