America’s Best Dance Crew: Season 3 Premiere was HOT!
Tonight was the premiere of Season 3 of “America’s Best Dance Crew.” Judges Shane Sparks, Lil Mama, and JC Chasez were back, but a guest judge filled in for JC tonight – Kid Rainen from Season 1 winner JabbaWockeeZ.
Tonight was a great show – there were some seriously, seriously great crews. The judges all liked Strikers All Star, but Beat Freaks, the all girl crew, literally got them on their feet for a standing ovation. They were good and very different from the usual girl crews. I liked G.O.P. Dance (from Puerto Rico), but Lil Mama told them she was not impressed at all. I liked the salsa/Latin flavor they brought, but they were not chosen to move on and had to compete in the sudden death face off.
Quest Crew – I have three words for them – I LOVE HOK! Any team with Hok on it is going to automatically get my attention and be a favorite. The Fly Kicks – eh, I really didn’t care for them. I thought the all girl group was too cheerleadery, but the judges praised them. Ringmaster – they just destroyed the Fly Kicks and almost showed up Quest Crew as well. These guys were intense and crazy crazy! They brought flexing to the show which Kid Rainen said brought a whole new style to the show. That was just sick! Needless to say, Fly Kicks were sent to the sudden death face off.
I liked the Boxcuttuhz better than Fly Kicks, but they really didn’t excite me, although Shane loved their choreography. Then, something happened I never thought I would see – clogging and hip hop together from Dynamic Edition. It really was kinda cool and not nearly as weird as I thought it would be. I am not sure how far they can go against some of the stronger teams, but they definitely held their own in this competition. Team Millennia made the top 12 last year, but knocked out by Fanny Pak. Kid Rainen thought they brought a different edge and Shane loved that they were a rock crew. Team Millennia and Dynamic Edition were chosen to move on to next week.
The sudden death face off allowed each crew to perform to the same song for 30 seconds. I personally thought Fly Kicks were goners, but the judges chose them and Boxcuttuhz to stay, so the banner fell for G.O.P Dance. Personally, I think G.O.P. Dance got the short end of the deal and I don’t see Fly Kicks making it very far in this competition at all.
