America’s Best Dance Crew: The Banner Falls for FR3SH

It was the premiere of the fourth season of “America’s Best Dance Crew,” and I wasn’t blown away at first. The nine crews were divided up into threes, with two crews being safe and one on the bottom. The three bottom crews had to dance in a sudden death dance-off.

The first three were just okay for me. All three judges agreed that Beat Ya Feet Kings were a bit sloppy and they needed to tighten up their routine. Lil Mama and JC thought We Are Heroes started slow, although Shane disagreed. Afroborike impressed the judges, but Lil Mama said they needed to be more together. Beat Ya Feet Kings were the odd crew out and had to dance at the end of the show.

The next three crews were a little better for me. Massive Monkees were good – loved their monkey bar move. Shave said they brought it 100% from beginning to end and Lil Mama thought JD, who had braces on his legs his first five years, was an inspiration. Artistry in Motion didn’t do much for me, but the judges loved that they inspired young girls. Shane felt their routine was flawless. Southern Movement specialized in “hick hop,” a combination of hip hop and country line dancing. Shane didn’t care for the music and that might have been what landed them in the bottom three.

I thought the last three crews were the best group. Rhythm City had all the judges agreeing they nailed their routine and JC called it the cleanest of the night. FR3SH had energy that Shane liked and JC liked their hairspray prop. Vogue Evolution was a gay crew with a transgender female (Lelomy). Mario called them fearless and Lil Mama called them perfect. She liked the new element they were bringing and JC liked they they had already been competing in underground competitions. Shane said he didn’t know how to feel. FR3SH ended up in the bottom three.

I was surprised that after the dance-off that Beat Ya Feet Kings were told they were safe. I personally thought FR3SH was better, but I knew they couldn’t beat Vogue Evolution and their banner fell.
