America’s Best Dance Crew: The Banner Falls for Sass x7
This week on America’ Best Dance Crew, six dance crews were safe and three were in danger of going home. The safe crews were Super Cr3w (one of my favs), Fanny Pak, Supreme Soul, Phresh Select, A.S.I.D., and SoReal Cru. The bottom three was Xtreme Dance Force, Sass x7, and Boogie Bots.
Each crew had to perform the dances of a popular video while still adding their own touch to it. Super Cr3w got Chris Brown’s “Run It.” Lil Mama thought they were very creative, Shane said they smashed it, and JC liked the tricks but cautioned that they needed more choreography (something Shane disagreed with). Fanny Pak showed a different side of themselves with Gwen Stefani’s “Wind It Up.” Shane thought they took the dance and made it “Fanny Pak,” but Lil Mama said they kept to the video but still added their own stuff. JC felt it was a bit sloppy at times, but loved Glenda’s back tuck. Supreme Soul got Omarion’s “Touch.” I loved the slow motion moves – those were sick. Lil Mama thought they had some crazy moves, Shane said they 100% ripped it, and JC thought it was a clean and intricate routine. Phresh Select got another Chris Brown song – “Gimme That.” All the judges thought the beginning was a bit worrisome, but then they picked it up. Shane said they needed to hit it harder. A.S.I.D. got Ciara’s “Like a Boy.” JC thought they showed a lot of energy and Shane liked the crotch grabbing. Lil Mama disagreed a bit, saying that they needed to take it “more easy.” SoReal Cru (another fav of mine) got Usher’s “Love in the Club.” I loved the opening – loved it. That was so cool. JC liked them a lot, saying it was sharp with a few spills. Shane said they did Usher proud despite the fact that Andrew forgot a few moves in the middle and Lil Mama said they put the “extra stab in the heart of the chicken” – whatever that means.
The bottom three was reduced to the bottom two when Mario Lopez announced that Xtreme Dance Force was safe. They performed to Mario’s “Let Me Love You.” JC felt they took the video very literally, Shane clapped for them saying they “sold it” to him, and Lil Mama said they needed to get smooth, not liking the face one dancer was making.
At the dance-off, Sass x7 surprised me with their Britney Spears “I’m a Slave 4 U” routine. I thought Boogie Bots had it wrapped up against the cheerleaders, but they showed us something different. Shane thought the choreography was hot, but not hot enough to save them as they were told they were leaving this week. Boogie Bots dance to B2K’s “Bump Bump Bump” – they were good, but they really need to step it up to stay out of the bottom three next week.
