America’s Got Talent – Dallas Auditions Then Back to Chicago

The auditions this week for America’s Got Talent started out in Dallas and after a few crazy cowboys, Kellie Pickler, uh, I mean Holly Hardin showed up. She looked like Kellie as she sang “These Boots Are Made for Walking” (who decided that was a country song?). David didn’t care for her, but Piers saw something in her and when she belted out Dolly, that sealed her Las Vegas ticket.

Also making the Vegas trip from Dallas will be acrobats Duo Genesis (they were good!), Lewis Warren Jr. (a junior piano player), the Shaolin Warriors (a martial arts act), Beyond Belief Dance Company (or BBDC as they like to be called), Paul West and his dog, Tucker, and Paul Salos, a 71 year old Sinatra impersonator.

Back to Chicago, lovebird singing act Zane and Stephanie were told a polite, but firm “no” by the judges. Dancers Junior and Emily impressed the judges, but was I the only one that felt they were dancing the salsa so fast, that it wasn’t with the music anymore? They were good, but who told them they needed to do speed salsaing? George the Giant (7’ 3”) made it to Vegas with what I can only think of as a freak act (the dreaded straw through the nose trick) – what was David and Piers thinking? Jessica Price got a standing O from the audience for her singing and a ticket to Vegas from the judges.

Then, the show switched to Atlanta (the Hoff’s hometown), but geeky stripper Alistair McQueen (who caused the Hoff to duck under the table) and Busty Heart (do I need to describe her act?) were quickly sent packing. They did put through sword swallower Dan Meyer, the Southern Belles (a clogging dance troupe), and cute little David Militello, an autistic 9 year old who sang “Ben.” He was adorable but like the little four year old girl singer, I don’t expect to see much more of him after tonight.
