America’s Got Talent: Acrodunk, Drew Thomas Magic, Kevin Skinner, Grandma Lee, and Arcadian Broad Advance
There is one thing I can always count on from “America’s Got Talent” – crummy results. But, before I go there, let me say that I often talk bad about the show. Okay, maybe a little more than often. But, they definitely got it right the year Terry Fader won. Mr. $100 Million Dollar Vegas Contract was on the show tonight and he is still a very talented man and a total class act. Also appearing on the show tonight was Mariah Carey. Could AGT promote her any more? I mean I know she is Nick’s wife, but really – Sharon has been a judge two or three years now and we haven’t seen Ozzy! Enough with the Mariah already!
Finally, it was time for the results and the first two acts brought out were Acrodunk and Breaksk8. I thought Breaksk8 was cool, but I knew they didn’t have a chance against Acrodunk (who did, by the way, got that last dunk that Piers questioned) and I was right. Next up was Lake Houston Dance, Drew Thomas Magic, and Manuela Horn. I wasn’t all that crazy about Manuela’s yodeling dominatrix routine, but I think she got a raw deal this week. They ask the acts to bring more next time they see them, she brought something different, and was condemned for it. Again, I knew this was a no-brainer and Drew Thomas Magic easily moved on to the next round.
Mosaic was up against Kevin Skinner and I was pleased to see Kevin advance. The one that broke my heart was the Platt Brothers, the Diva League, and Grandma Lee. I love the Platt Brothers and I don’t know if the judges comments hurt them or not, but they were knocked out of the competition as was the Diva League. I am happy Grandma Lee is moving on though, so I cannot complain too much.
Now, all four of those decisions were made by the public. This is the decision that bugged me – Thia Megia and Arcadian Broad. The fifth decision would be made by the judges. I don’t really see either one of these teens in Vegas, but Thia is just incredible. Arcadian – sorry, but I’ve never thought he was as incredibly talented as the judges have raved. I hate to talk about a teen, but with this pairing; it just seemed so obvious that Thia would be the one moving on. Piers voted for her, but Sharon and David voted Arcadian through to the next round. And that, ladies and gentlemen, just gave me one more hate notch on my AGT belt.

You hit the nail on the head. Arcadian going through…. what??!?!?!? nice kid, nice story… not a good dancer… they are simply trying to recreate the baton boy from last year, The girl does not sound 14 she is lightyears beyond the boy. The judges were unbelievably wrong on this one.. this may be the last time I watch the show.
