America’s Got Talent: Another 12 Acts Perform
The two wildcard acts brought back to “America’s Got Talent” this week were the Beale Street Flippers (who I love) and SQ Entertainment. Joining them were Paradizo Dance, Carol Loo, Eleisha Miller, Tony Hoard and Rory, the Texas Tenors, Alizma, Charles Dewayne, Pete Peterkin, Voices of Glory, and the Fab 5.
Piers seemed in a pissy mood tonight. He buzzed about half the acts. But, some needed buzzing. Poor Tony Hoard let his nerves get to him and Rory missed several of the Frisbees he threw. Eleisha Miller sang and danced, but Piers said she was amazing, funny, charming, but maybe singing wasn’t her thing. Really, I thought that at the audition and they still put her through over other acts that were better.
The Texas Tenors were good, but Piers said they were cheesy and I agree. They really couldn’t find a better song to sing than “Proud to be an American?” I think they would go over better as an act in Branson rather than Vegas. Another act that would go over in Branson was the Voices of Glory. Beautiful kids, beautiful voices, but I felt like I was in church, especially with the white outfits. Just not a Vegas act.
Alizma, the three blond sisters, tried to sex their act up with their stripper moves, but it even turned off the Hoff (he said they were like strippers on acid). The judges told them to play the violins, not sing, but they insisted on singing and the one sister hit a terrible, horrible note. Sharon said they were all over the place – are they strippers, violin players, or singers? They said they were glad they sang – well, good luck because you will be watching the finale from home with vocals like that!
I love Pete Peterkin, he got my 10 votes tonight, but he act lacked a little bit. Like Piers said the Obama jokes missed, but I did get that he was Obama impersonating Jamie Foxx impersonating Ray Charles – how hard was that? It just be an American thing – neither Piers nor Sharon got it. Charles Dewayne was good, but Sharon said she didn’t like the song choice (I loved it) and the Hoff agreed. Piers said he thought Charles could be a major star. The Fab 5 were great tonight, but honestly, the act bores me. I mean they are great cloggers, but I guess I am just not into clogging. Again, great in Branson, not-so-great in Vegas.
The Beale Street Flippers were all over the place, Carol Loo lost some of her charming wackiness with the slicked up dancing, and SQ Entertainment lost Piers with their story. The only act that made me go “Wow” was Paradizo Dance. I want to not like them but they really are amazing. When he picked her up from the floor to straight over his head, I had to rewind.
Who is going through? Well, only five can move on and my batting average on this isn’t that great, but I’d say Paradiso Dance, Charles Dewayne, the Texas Tenors, Voices of Glory, and the Fab 5 although I’d rather see Pete Peterkin there. I wanted the Beale Street Flippers to go through, but I don’t think their act was quite tight enough to make it.
