America’s Got Talent: Atlanta and NYC Show Us What They’ve Got
This jumping from city to city then back again has got me confused, but this week, America’s Got Talent was in Atlanta and New York City…again.
First, those going to Vegas – Alexandria Pyles, the little martial arts girl who promised to beat up more attackers next time, Sarah Lenore, the 19-year-old singer, Flambeaux, the fire breathing performance artist, Nicole the pole dancer (what were the judges thinking?), the nameless African dance troupe (really, could the show not be bothered to tell us their name?), SQ Entertainment, the tumbling/dance group made up of cousins, the James Gang, a Harlem singing group (loved the outfits!), Victoria Jacoby, the 11-year-old contortionist (good grief, the backbend then facing forward thing proves she has no spine I think), and Kyle Rifkin, the R&B singer (I was certain he had told the judges his name was Cal Ripkin!). Kyle’s story about growing up in Harlem and his love for his mom even had Jerry tearing up. Most everyone there was good and deserved to move on with perhaps the exception of Nicole. I cannot picture a pole dancer winning America’s Got Talent, but then again, audiences would probably turn out in droves to see her in Vegas.
Those not moving on were the Polka Today couple Matt and Elaine (just not good), Mr. Phil, the bad opera singer, and a nameless ventriloquist. Dude, you have got to have a lot of hutzpa to think you can win America’s Got Talent with a dummy after Terry Fator’s excellent act won last year (not to mention the $100 million Vegas contract he just signed).
