America’s Got Talent: LA, NYC, and Chicago Auditions

I think this year, the show is focusing more on the good acts. Either that or the bad acts are so bad, they don’t want to show them. Tonight, we did get to see Victoria, the Singing Fairie. You know Piers jumped on X’ing that one quickly. Then Daniel Avila’s singing was so bad, it caused the Hoff to howl. And there were several bad magicians and impersonators.

But there were some great acts tonight on America’s Got Talent. Eli Mattson was an incredible singer - he had the crowd on their feet! Miss Pussycat was just – different. She had a grinding act – she actually used a grinder on parts of her body covered in metal to make sparks. Interesting – not sure how far she can go with that. Lil Countrie and Page 1NE were incredible. The Katrina survivors told a sad story about an uncle that sacrificed himself for the kids, but they musta made him proud with tonight’s performance. Like David said, they’ve seen a lot of tumblers, but those guys were the best. Loved the slow-mo back flips and the guy sliding across the stage on his head. Next II None were cute boys, but looked like the offspring of N’ Sync and Boys II Men. The Russian Bar Trio left all three judges with open mouths. They bounced that girl about 30 feet in the air and then one time, I swear she did like 47 flips before she came down. Now THAT is an act.

The Taubl Family – oh dear. First, there were like a dozen of them with fiddles (turned out to be violins) and big, Christian television show smiles. And children, there were children in the act. They played and sang “The Sound of Music.” They were good, but honestly, I thought I was going to go into a coma listening to them, especially after the exciting high energey of the tumblers and the bar people. Piers X’ed them early on then admitted he was wrong. They will make it to Vegas.

The DC Cowboy Dance Co. said they were like “Brokeback meets Broadway.” Hum, wonder if all the screaming females in the audience got THAT reference. In Chicago, we saw Kevin “Big K” Taylor, a martial artist who broke bricks that were on fire. Sharon didn’t want to put him through because he caught his hand on fire, but Piers and David didn’t care – they said “yes.” Chellena was a singer who had overcome cervical cancer. Piers rained on her parade, saying they had put through three or four singers better than her, but David and Sharon liked her.

One of the most painful acts of the night was The Pendragons. Well, not the act itself – they were illusionists – but the fact that he almost died when an arrow trick went awy and he got shot through the heart. Good grief! They were good though – my dear hubby had to rewind it the DVR three times to see their act again. The show ended as it should, with Elvis. Actually, Joseph Hall, a pretty good Elvis impersonator. He had the voice and the looks, but his moves were just so-so. However, the screaming girls meant he was going to Vegas baby, where the King belongs.
