America’s Got Talent: The Semi-Finals Continue

Because the “America’s Got Talent” judges put two acts through last week instead of one on the “Judge’s Choice” vote, this week only the top five will advance. First up was Recycled Percussion, who hit the junkyard for new material on which to beat. Piers said he couldn’t decide if they were incredibly talented or just mad. Sometimes there isn’t much of a difference Piers. Lawrence Beamen sang an Alicia Keys song and confused Piers and Sharon didn’t care for the vocal acrobatics.

Erik and Rickie were Xed by Piers. He said their music and dance didn’t match well, but the Hoff said they could have their own Disneyland, whatever that meant. Jeffrey Ou’s piano was hooked up to the lights and he had crazy Amadeus hair, but the judges didn’t have much good to say about it. Piers said he hardly hit a note and Sharon said the playing was out there. Hairo Torres did well – loved the foot up, jump, then land on his butt move. Sharon liked that he brought new steps to the performance and Piers said he liked him because he danced just like he did (not).

All the judges felt the EriAm Sisters were shaky at first, but finished on a strong note. Piers was disappointed with Mario and Jenny and have to agree. They came out, did some dancing (was Mario seriously tap dancing to Marilyn Manson?), Jenny shimmied up a pole and Mario drummed for a bit. There was no big trick unless you count him balancing the burning drum on his head. Piers felt they blew it big time, but the Hoff and Sharon disagreed. Drew Stevens sang “Careless Whisper” and Piers called it a massive gamble that paid off for him.

The judges didn’t care for the FootworKingz routine to the Power Rangers song. Piers called it career suicide and Sharon said they did the same dance, but with different outfits. Barbara Padillla was up last and just killed all the competition. She left Piers speechless, something almost impossible to do!

I think Barbara Padilla going through is a no brainer, but about the only one with the possible except of Recycle Percussion. Lawrence Beamen is likable enough, so either he or Drew Stevens might make it to the next round. Hairo Torres should make it and Mario and Jenny might have impressed enough people so far (sans last night’s performance) to make it through to the finals. I believe we have seen the last of Jeffrey Ou, Erik and Rickie, the EriAm Sisters, and FootworKingz.
