America’s Got Talent: The Top 40 is Established
Tonight, more “America’s Got Talent” acts were told they were going through to the Top 40 or going home. I was surprised at some of the acts that went home. Others weren’t such a big shock. Those leaving were: Rashida Jolley (with the harp), Christopher and Laura Camp (the cowboy roping act), Duo Design (the bald acrobat team who screamed Vegas act to me!), Flash (jugglers), Arthur Gulkrov (dancer), and The Kalinins (father/son acrobats). The brother/sister guitar/singing act (sorry, cannot remember the name) also was sent home, mainly because the brother got another gig.
As for the dance-off, Breaksk8 was told they were moving on to the Top 40, while U4RIA and Destined 2 Be were going home. Also going home was singer Kelli Glover, who was not happy about leaving.
I was a bit upset that the judges put through Eleisha Miller over the Duo Design people. Yes, she is cute, but is the show about cute or talent? They keep reminding us how this is for a million dollars – sometimes I wish they would remember when making decisions about who to keep!
As far as I can tell, here are the Top 40 acts:
1. Pete Peterkin (impressionist/comedian)
2. Arcadian Broad (dancer)
3. AcroDunk (acrobats)
4. Platt Brothers (dancers/comedians)
5. Recycled Percussion (drummers)
6. David Johnson (singer/songwriter)
7. Thia Megia (singer)
8. G Force (girl band)
9. Erik & Rickie (dancers)
10. Mosaic (singers)
11. Texas Tenors (singers)
12. Manuela Horn (yodeling dominatrix)
13. The Fab Five (cloggers)
14. Drew Thomas (impressionist)
15. Hairo Torres (dancer)
16. Lawrence Beamen (singer)
17. Kevin Skinner (singer)
18. Paradizo Dance (husband/wife acrobats)
19. Ishaara (Bollywood dancers)
20. FootworksKingz (dancers)
21. Jeffrey Ou (pianist)
22. Eleisha Miller (singer)
23. Mario and Jenny (juggler?)
24. Marcus Terell (singer – without the Serenades)
25. Breakssk8 (dancers)
26. Voice of Glory (singers)
27. Barbara Padilla (singer)
28. Carol Lugo (dancer)
29. Charles DeWayne Dorsey (singer)
30. Pixie Mystere (acrobats)
31. EriAm Sisters (singers)
32. Bri (singer/pianist)
33. Anthony and Matt (guitar player/dancer)
34. Grandma Lee (comedian)
35. Alizam (sister violinists)
36. Mia Boostrom (singer)
37. Chris “Coney Island Chris” Allison
38. Pam Martin and Viva (dog act)
39. Rockin Rory (dog act)
So that is 39 acts (my apologies to whomever I have missed) and of those 39 that I know of, almost half involve singing. Not much variety this year, but I am not surprised. The dullness of this show never surprises me.
At the end of tonight’s show, Simon Cowell called and said he had a serious problem with the Top 40. I have a serious problem with some of the acts, but we won’t find out until next episode what Simon’s serious problem is.
