America Idol: Jasmine, Megan, Matt, and Anoop Join the Top 13 as Wildcards
It was the wildcard show on “American Idol.” I still don’t totally agree with the judges’ choices (read Tatiana), but some of the people greatly approved over their last performance and some didn’t.
First up was Jesse. Randy thought it was just okay, but Kara liked her swagger. Matt (didn’t they tell him to not wear the hat?) was told by Kara that she was glad to see the bluesy/soulful Matt back. Simon said it was a billion times better than his last performance. Megan didn’t have the best performance, but Paula told her she was beautiful and Simon said he liked her. Kara said she hoped she stayed.
Von seemed to ruin his chances by being too serious and dark. Simon called him boring. Randy said Jasmine was much better than before, but still had a few flat moments. Paula and Simon argued about Paula’s comments, which where good, so I don’t know why Simon was arguing. Simon said he though this performance put Jasmine back in the running. Ricky came back and Kara said he did a good job while Paula said he nailed it. Simon called it lightweight and said he was disappointed.
Tatiana – ugh. I loved it when Paula said she had developed an accent she had never heard before. Tatiana said something about thinking in Spanish – I think she was trying to steal Jorge’s line! Simon pointed out that they had heard her sing the Whitney song three times. Tatiana tried to say she couldn’t get anything as good cleared, which Simon called rubbish. All the judges are confused by her.
Anoop finished up the show with, as Simon put it, not the best singing they would hear, but people liked him. Randy pointed out they had heard the song before, but it was okay because it was better this time. Kara said it made her want to get up and dance.
So who did the judges pick? Personally, I was hoping for Matt, Ricky, and Anoop, but I guess they couldn’t pick three guys. The judges picked Jasmine (who looked like she might pass out), Megan (over Tatiana – and of course, it was still about her and Paula had to suck up to her). It came down to Matt and Anoop and they pulled a switcheroo on us! They announced Matt was through, but then decided to put Anoop through as well, so we have a Top 13 instead of Top 12.
