American Gladiator: The Police are on Duty!
This week’s American Gladiator featured two sets of friends – both working for the police department. Melvin had served as a mentor to the younger David on the Chicago force while Abbe and Vicki, from the Denver force, were best friends. We saw a new event – Skytrack. It is a bit like The Wall as the competitors much avoid being caught by the gladiators, but just in the sky – and upside down! We also met a new male gladiator – Zen.
Abbe scored one more point than Vicki on the Rocketball and kept the lead the rest of the competition. Both managed to hold on against Crush during Earthquake, which didn’t seem to make Crush very happy. Abbe was the first contestant to make it to the fifth station in Assault, but ran out of time just before she was able to press the button to send Hellga flying. In the Eliminator, Abbe had a 3 ½ second lead, but didn’t really need it as she beat Vicki with a time of 2.58.
The guys remained close in the competition until Gauntlet. Poor Melvin, the older of the two, was kicked off the Joust platform with one hit from Titan. On The Wall, Rocket actually surpassed David – bad news there! David had a 3 second lead for the Eliminator and quickly made it to the Travelator, but he just couldn’t make it up the incline. He seemed to just stand around, either thinking about it or resting, while Melvin caught up. Both kept trying to get up the Travelator, but it was Melvin that made it first and finished before David.
