American Gladiators: Alex and Monica Make the Finals
This week, it was between Alex and Andy and Monica and Venus to fill the final two places in the finale against Evan and Shanay. As I thought, the competition between Andy and Alex was close, but there really wasn’t much Venus could do to compete against Monica.
The guys did Hit and Run, in which Andy only scored 2 points. Alex, who scored a record setting 14 points last time, got knocked over by Justice after only 6 points. The girls did well at Powerball, but I think that was mainly because Fury seemed to get hurt and for all her muscle, Hellga isn’t very fast.
The 7 points Venus scored on Powerball would be the only 7 she would score the whole night. Monica scored 10 points on Joust, 10 points on Hang Tough, and 10 points on The Wall to have a 39 to 7 point advantage over Venus going into the Eliminator.
For the guys, it was closer. Andy was late leaving the Hang Tough platform, but managed to hang on for 5 points. He got 10 points in The Gauntlet, as opposed to Alex’s 6 points. Of course, during the Joust, Alex didn’t have much of a chance against the much larger Wolf, but Andy did knock him in the water for 10 points. Going into the Eliminator, Andy had a 5 second lead.
In the Eliminator, Alex managed to gain ground on the hand bike, but is still seemed like Andy had a bit of a lead. However, the two were neck-in-neck at the Travellator, the event which has tripped up so many contestants this season. And it tripped up Andy – he fell at the very top, allowing Alex enough time to pull though and win. For the girl’s, I thought Monica would be through the whole course with a 16 second head start and I was pretty much correct. Venus lagged behind, while Monica finished just short of Shanay’s time with 1:54.
In the finale, I think it will be Evan for the men and Monica for the women.
