American Gladiators: Ally and Tim Win!
Tonight, the last two finalists had to be determined before the finals. It was Randee vs. Mike and Abbe vs. Annie. The girls scored big on Rocketball, but failed to get any points on Joust. Abbe got 5 points on the Gauntlet, but Annie ended up with enough points to have a 3 ½ second head start going into the Eliminator. For the guys, the scoring was even at 14 points each going into the Eliminator. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it tied like that.
In the Eliminator, the guys were dead even for a long time, but Mike is the only one that knows how to get up the Travellator correctly. He starts running at the top of the teeter-totter and was almost to the top of the Travellator before he even grabbed the rope. He won and made it into the finals with a time of 1:35, where he would face Tim. For the girls, Abbe made a costly mistake of running past the teeter-totter. That may have cost her as she won, but with a time of 2:16, which was too slow to make it to the finals.
In the finals, for the girls, it was Tiffaney and Ally and for the guys, it was Mike and Tim. Poor Tim kept getting beat up – he hurt his arm on Sideswipe, got hit in the eye on Rocketball, and there was a big bruise on his arm. But he ended up with a huge 12 ½ second head start lead that Mike could just not overcome. Tim finished with a time of 1:21. For the girls, Tiffaney had a 5 second head start, but she fell off the hand bike right towards the end and Ally took the lead, winning with a time of 1:45. Each winner gets $100,000 and a Toyota Sequoia, but no mention of being a gladiator next season like last year’s winners got.
