American Gladiators: Brawn Doesn’t Prevail
The male competitors for American Gladiators this week were Landon (a salesman) and Tony (a teacher and cheerleading coach). Landon was much bigger and more muscular than Tony and gave him a hard time about it throughout the show. For the females, it was Chuanda (a mom) and tiny 4’ 11” Rochelle (a crime reporter), nicknamed Little Rocky. Because tonight was a special night dedicated to the opening of The Incredible Hulk this weekend, Titan turned green and everyone in the audience had big Hulk hands.
Neither girl faired well on Hang Tough, although Chuanda picked up 3 points on Assault while Rochelle picked up 2 points. Over on the guy’s side, I thought Landon had broken Zen in Gauntlet – he just rammed into him and Zen went flying. Both guys picked up 10 points on Gauntlet. Chuanda picked up 5 points on Vertigo while Rochelle went scoreless. Landon got three more points than Tony on Power Ball.
Then, the show did something I haven’t noticed before – they showed clips of events, but said if you wanted to see the full event, you had to go to NBC.com. Hum, maybe they are trying to cut the time down or just draw people to the web page.
For the Eliminator, Chuanda had a 3-second head start, but Rochelle caught her at the end of the swim. They were neck and neck going into the Travellator, although like the announcer said, neither girl seemed to be in a real hurry. Rochelle and Chuanda both got up the Travellator, but it was Rochelle that pulled herself up first and won with a time of 3:49. I also noticed that at least in this episode, they don’t show the competitor finishing.
For the guys, they too were neck and neck when they reached the Travellator too, but the little guy prevailed as Tony beat Landon in a time of 2:55.

This season has been better and better each week. I can’t get enough of Jet. I’m glad she won last year because her makeover into a Gladiator has been epic!
