American Gladiators: Evan and Monica Win!
I thought going into the grand finale that it wouldn’t be much of a contest. I thought Alex would put up a bit of a fight against Evan, but I still thought Evan would win. And I was almost certain Monica would win.
The American Gladiator competitors found themselves facing five events: Hang Tough, The Assault, Joust, Pyramid, and the Wall. On Hang Tough, everyone fell pretty quickly with the exception of Evan. He was able to ward off Wolf, who eventually took a dip, and earn 10 points. On Assault, Shanay only earned 3 points, but Monica aimed very carefully with the slingshot and sent Hellga flying. Alex had no experience with Assault and he was picked off quickly by Justice. However, Evan just missed with the slingshot, but connected with the gun to send Justice, who had never been dunked, for a swim.
Joust proved to be a gladiator event, with only Shanay being able to hang on to earn 5 points. Pyramid also was all about the gladiators, but Alex did manage to pass the 5 point line before being thrown down. Evan held the record for the Wall and rightfully so – he teaches rock climbing! He scampered up quickly and although Militia got a hand on Alex, he kicked free to earn 5 points. For the women, Monica moved up quickly to earn 10 points and Shanay managed to hold on for 5 points.
For the Eliminator, Monica had a 3 ½ second lead over Shanay. Shanay almost caught her on the rope ladder, but Monica pulled away again and easily won. Evan had a 9 ½ second lead over Alex and easily won, beating his own record with a time of 1:19. For their wins, Monica and Evan get $100,000, a new Toyota Sequoia, and both get to be new gladiators on next season’s show.
