American Gladiators: Married Couples Compete

For the first time on American Gladiators, two married couples competed against each other. Jeff, a financial adviser, is married to Ally, a sales rep who applied to be on the show the day of her wedding. Aaron, a wrestling coach, is married to social worker Kendra.

First up was Joust – neither of the guys lasted very long against Titan. For the girls, it was Powerball. Despite taking a hard hit from Steel, Kendra tied Ally with 3 points each. Aaron became the first guy to reach the top of the Pyramid. How did he do it? Justice grabbed his uniform and ended up with a handful of material instead of a handful of Aaron! Ally made it to the top of The Wall as did her hubby Jeff. Venom caught Kendra and Aaron had the unfortunate luck of going up against Rocket – is there anyone who can scale the wall before he catches them?

Crush has never been in the water and it didn’t change last night on Earthquake. Ally went down while Kendra was able to hang on for 5 points despite having Crush’s foot in her face. On the web, you can see the guys take on the gladiators in Rocketball and Hang Tough (both scored 10 points) while you can watch the girls in Rocketball and Skytrack.

There was a new event last night – Sideswipe. It was kind of like Hit and Run, only the contestants had to jump from platform to platform, carry a ball to each end, and instead of the big bags, three gladiators swung themselves at the contestants. Aaron got 7 points, meaning he had a 4 second head start going into the Eliminator. Kendra got four points before being taken out by Phoenix. She had a 5 second head start over Ally.

In the Eliminator, Jeff caught up to Aaron on the hand bike of all things and I think just seeing Jeff overcome him was Aaron’s downfall. Aaron had trouble on the teeter-totter while Jeff made it up the Travellator on the second try. He finished with a time of 1:34, which puts him in first place.

Ally took the lead with her 5 second head start and never looked back. She finished with a time of 2:08, so the married couple of Jeff and Ally now both hold the #1 position for the semi-finals.
