American Gladiators: More Injuries
This week pitted Sharaud (a schoolteacher) against Adam (a shark fisherman) for the men and Belinda (a bull rider) against Monica (a mom of twins) for the women. Adam was crushed by Mayhem during the first event, the Powerball and he injured his leg. Unable to continue, the self-titled Hebrew Hammer was replaced by the Christian Reverend of Rip, Andy (an ordained minister). Sharaud looked strong throughout most of the competition. He had Titan dancing around the platform during Joust before knocking him over and made it further than Andy in the Hit and Run. But, he played out in the Eliminator. He had a four-second head start, but had a problem swimming under the fire and Andy caught up. After that, the Preacher of Pain was off and running, finishing the Eliminator in a record time of 2:04 minutes.
One the women’s side, Monica seemed to excel at all the events except when Belinda hit the bull’s eye during Assault, sending Hellga (still love that name) flying. That was the first time any contestant has hit the bull’s eye. But, Monica had a 6 ½ second lead for the Eliminator and she too finished in record time – 2:00 minutes flat. It was sad to see Andy hurt (he had lost everything in Hurricane Wilma) and Belinda lose (she wanted the $100,000 to get her mom a house because she lives in a trailer), but the competition just proved too tough.
