American Gladiators: The Battle of the Twins
This week on American Gladiators, twin sisters went head to head against each other. Clinessa and Lillian were born only 5 minutes apart, but that didn’t stop either one of them from trying to win the competition this week. For the guys, it was ER doctor Adam and dancer Mike.
Both Clinessa and Lillian did well on Hit and Run, scoring 12 points each. The guys didn’t fare as well on Pyramid – neither got any points. Clinessa managed to beat her sister by one point in Rocket Ball. For the next guy’s event, Tilt, a new gladiator was introduced – Hurricane. Is it just me or are the new gladiators starting to look like anime characters? Hurricane promised Mike he would be off the platform in 2 seconds. He missed it by a bit – it was 4 seconds. But, Doc Adam managed to hang tough for 5 points.
Next up for the girls was The Wall. Jet caught Lillian before she got very far up the wall, but Lillian was able to kick her free. However, she spent so much time doing that, she didn’t reach the top. Clinessa did reach the top for 10 points. Wolf made his first appearance on Earthquake. Mike didn’t last long, but it was hilarious when Wolf growled at Doc Adam and the good doctor howled back. Then, he promptly pulled Wolf over the edge with him for 10 points!
A new event was revealed – Snapback. The competitors have a bungee cord attached to them and must try to get into the scoring zone while a gladiator is trying to pull him or her back. If they can hit the red button, they get 10 points and send the gladiators flying. No one hit the button, but we saw the gladiators fly at the end of the guy’s competition anyhow.
The Eliminator between the twins was close – with Clinessa only have a 1-second head start. She had trouble with the rope swing and that gave Lillian the boost she needed – she won with a time of 3:08.
For the guys, it was one of the most exciting Eliminators I’ve seen yet. Doc Adam had a 3 ½ second lead, but Mike kept plugging away. The doctor missed the Travellator a time or two while Mike caught up. He used the teeter-totter as you are supposed to – when he got to the top, he ran down to give him momentum going up the Travellator. He ran right up and grabbed the rope. By this time, Doc Adam too was on his way up, but Mike was able to beat him out, just barely, with a time of 1:58 – the first male competitor this season to complete the Eliminator in less than 2 minutes.
