American Gladiators: Tiffaney and James Advance
This week’s American Gladiators had to contain the craziest Eliminator ever for the guys. The contenders were newlywed Jeff and James (who had lost 65 pounds). For the women, it was twin Lillian and tiny Tiffaney (5’ 1”).
The women didn’t score many points on the events. Both were shut out on Pyramid, Hang Tough, Skytrack, and Joust, but the 5 points that Lillian gained in Tilt gave her a 2 second head start going into the Eliminator. For the guys, James dominated the competition. He got 10 points in Gauntlet after he accidentally hit Militia and in the face and Militia grabbed him. The ref restarted the time and James scored 10 points while Jeff only got 5. James was also able to gain 10 points on Hang Tough while Jeff went scoreless. For the Eliminator, James had a commanding 10 ½ second head start over Jeff.
For the women, Tiffaney quickly caught up with Lillian. Lillian quickly slipped off the hand bike and it cost her precious time as Tiffaney finished the hand bike to take the lead. She made it up the Travellator on her first attempt and finished in first with a time of 2:06 – one second ahead of Ally. Tiffaney has assured herself of a place in the finals with that finish.
For the men, this was THE craziest Eliminator ever. You would think Jeff might just give up, but he hustled and caught James on the rope. However, he face planted into the platform, opening up a cut on his face. That didn’t deter him though as he fought James head to head going up the pyramid. He even went down the zip line backwards (a first) to try to take the lead. But, he slipped slightly on the teeter-totter and James made it up the Travellator on his first attempt, finishing with a time of 1:43. However, that puts him in second, so while he may not be in the finals, it assures Tim of a spot there. I say kudos to Jeff for a big, big effort!
