American Gladiators: Weight Lost Contenders
This week, the contenders on American Gladiators had all lost a great amount of weight. James, an English teacher, lost 57 pounds. His opponent Sean lost 101 pounds to reach a slim weight of 169. The loss caused Sean to change his occupation from bartender to personal trainer. For the ladies, 4’ 11” Jessica, a cheerleading coach, had lost 49 pounds while Patti, a nurse, had lost 50 pounds.
First up was Joust. You figured diminutive Jessica had no chance against Crush, but I think Crush took it easy on her – too easy, as Jessica managed to hang on. Crush took it out on Patti though, dunking her in the water. Sean proved to be no match for Toa, but James took him right down to earn 10 points. In Hit and Run, Patti scored 8 points, as did Jessica before Jet took her out. On Hang Tough, Wolf quickly caught Sean, but James shook him loose, sending Wolf for a swim.
We met another new gladiator tonight – Panther. She proved tough on Rocketball for the ladies. Hurricane proved to be too much for Sean on Snapback while James quickly made it to the red button and sent Toa flying. I bet Toa was tired of James by the end of the night! James proved to be a good sport though, trying to cheer on Sean during the event.
James had a commanding 18-second head start going into the Eliminator. Unless he broke a leg or something, there wasn’t much chance for Sean to catch up. James finished with a respectable time of 2:07. Sean, who had trash talked the Gladiators all night, was overcome with emotion about losing the weight and just being able to finish the Eliminator.
For the ladies, Jessica had a 5 second head start, but Patti caught her and surpassed her on the swim. Patti had trouble on the ropes, but caught up on the hand bike. It was pretty even going into the Travellator, but poor Jessica caught the rope first but just couldn’t get to the top and Patti won with a time of 4:32.
