American Idol: Boston Auditions
It’s that time again – tonight was the premiere of “American Idol.” While you may be missing Paula this year, they had Victoria Beckham as a guest judge. Was that supposed to be a treat for the viewers? Honestly, her pouty face never seems to change expressions.
Anyhow, there was some talent. We may be seeing more of Maddy Curtis. Her brother, who has Downs Syndrome, was there to cheer her on after she got her golden ticket. We may also see more of Jennifer Hirsh, Claire Fuller, Luke Shaffer, Benjamin Bright, and Jess Wolfe, but we just got to see snippets of their auditions. Amadeo Diricco was told by Simon that in a strange way, his audition was his favorite of the day and he will be going to Hollywood.
Ashley Rodriguez seemed like the entire package and the judges loved her. Kara and Victoria loved Tyler Grady, who unfortunately broke both wrists after he fell out of a tree. Mike Davis got a golden ticket as did Katie Stevens and Joshua Blaylock, even though Simon thought he sounded like he was 14. Justin Williams, a cancer survivor, got as yes as did Bosa Mora, although Victoria had to yell at Simon for his eye-rolling.
There were some bad auditions of course. People that thought they could really sing when they couldn’t (Mere Doyle and Derek Hilton), those that were rude to the judges (Andrew Fenlon), and the overly outgoing, but not good singers (Pat Ford). Perhaps the one to suffer from Simon’s nastiness the most was Norberto Guerrero, who was told he dressed like LaToya Jackson. He sorta did, but Simon didn’t need to verbalize that!
