American Idol: Brooke Goes Home
How odd it is that Brooke, the most folksy singer of the five remaining, goes home from American Idol on Neil Diamond week? Of course, as usual, there was a lot of fluff on tonight’s show. Natasha Bettingfield sang, as did Neil himself. We saw the Carrie Underwood stamp and a preview of “So You Think You Can Dance.” Ryan mentioned Paula’s gaffe last night, but said that the rumors aren’t true, that she is part of the family, and “we love her.” By the way Paula, Sandra Bullock called and she wants her look back! Perhaps the funniest time filler of the night was when Simon’s first crush Tara Miller called in. Apparently, they had a bit of a smooth in the garden when they were 9. Yes America, Simon is a real person with a heart apparently.
But down to the real reason for tonight – the results. Jason Castro somehow manages to slide by every week. It must be magic hair or something. Like Brooke, he hasn’t done anything incredible in a few weeks, so what is up? I knew both Davids were safe. Did it look awkward when Natasha asked if she could say hello to David and Cook stood up, but she headed for Archuleta? Mark my words, this year is going to come down to a battle of the Davids.
Poor Brooke was breaking down before Ryan even announced her name. She cried through the whole montage of her American Idol stay then through most of her song, on which she forgot part of the words. But the judges gave her a standing ovation – even Simon.
