American Idol: Charleston, South Carolina Auditions
It seems that having a baby while waiting to audition for AI is getting to be more and more common. Oliver Highman had to leave when his wife went into labor. They went to the local hospital, had daughter Emma Grace, and came back so Oliver could audition. Unfortunately, he was a bit over the top, but Randy did say Emma Grace was truly an Idol baby and Simon said they would see her in 15 years.
Charleston brought out all the crazies. There was Aretha, who sounded nothing like who she was named after, but she was convinced she could sing, no matter what the judges said. There was Lyndsey, who you would think would be happy enough being an Air Force pilot, but no, she wanted to sing too. But, Simon found her to be too cabaret. There was Crystal and Randy, who met online at Americanidol.com. Simon called their duet “complete torture.” Hey, at least they had each other.
The judges did love brother/sister act Michelle and Jeffrey, although I was like Simon – I was a bit creeped out that they sang a love song to each other. But they are headed to Hollywood, as is London, who Simon said was nothing unique, but Randy and Paula liked her. Is it just me or is Simon telling people they are not unique or they are cabaret, but then saying yes to Hollywood anyhow?
Poor DeAnna from Albemarle- yes, the hometown of Kelly Pickler – was just angry. She works as a waitress and we found out she hated the Sunday all-you-can-eat crowd. Since she isn’t going to Hollywood, looks like she will have to deal with them a bit longer. Amy Catherine horrified Simon when he found out she preaches abstinence. Even though he said the song was too big for her, he voted yes to Hollywood, so off she goes.
Then there was Joshua Boson, who said the show was fake and rigged. Like many of the delusional people on this episode, he was just convinced he could sing and wouldn’t take no for an answer. Hey, he doesn’t want to be the American Idol now, he wants to be the World Idol. Good luck on that Joshua.
