American Idol: Dallas Auditions
“American Idol” was in the Big D – Dallas, home of season one winner Kelly Clarkson. I don’t know if they found another Kelly this season, but they definitely found some talent.
Getting golden tickets were Lloyd Thomas (although Day 1 guest judge Neil Patrick Harris said that he needed to be more flashy – can Harris replace Simon?), Kimberly Carver (despite the fact that Simon found nothing current about her), Erica Rhodes (a former Barney kid who showed up in leather, hooker heels, and brandishing a whip), Dave Pittman (who suffered from Tourette Syndrome), Todrick Hall (who had the cutest original song about the judges), Dawntoya Thomason, Stephanie Daulong, Maegan Wright (who was Kara’s favorite of the day), and Christian Spear (who was a leukemia survivor).
Those not moving on were Julie Kevelighan (who hadn’t gotten a whole lot better since she auditioned for season one), Dexter Ward (what is is? Season of the people who should be doing drag instead of Idol?), and Vanessa Johnston (Simon said he has nightmares about contestants like her that keep him up at night).
