American Idol: Disco Fails Everyone

Tonight was a disaster for most all the final four remaining contestants.  I was excited because I love the music of the Bee Gees, but for the most part, the singers sucked.  Each performed two songs and Jordin was the only standout and only with one song – “To Love Somebody.”  Melinda sang “Love You Inside and Out” (which all judges said was good, but not exceptional like they expected) and “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart” (Randy said it was better, but not outstanding).  Simon felt like the second half of her last performance assured her a spot in the semi-finals.

In addition to “To Love Somebody,” Jordin sang “Woman in Love.”  Randy said it was pitchy throughout and Simon thought it was old fashioned and pageanty.  Blake bombed on both songs – “You Should Be Dancing” and “This is Where I Came In.”  He threw in a little beat boxing, but the judges didn’t appreciate it.  Simon thought his second song choice was “bizarre” and “tuneless.”  Lakisha sang “Staying Alive,” which I couldn’t even watch all the way through and “Run to Me.”  The best Simon would give her was “not great,” although Randy and Paula agreed her second performance was stronger than the first.

With everyone sucking, who’s going home?  Simon said both Lakisha and Blake are vulnerable this week and I have to agree.  I wasn’t able to vote for anyone, but since I like Blake better (but he does need to give the beat boxing a break), I hope it is Lakisha’s night to go home.
