American Idol Finale - Who Will Win?
Tonight, Blake and Jordin each performed three songs in the Kodak Theater. The song choices were their favorite, one they hadn’t performed before, and the song that won the songwriters contest “This Is My Now.” Through a toss of a coin, Blake chose to go first. He did his great version of “You Give Love a Bad Name” then Maroon 5’s “She Will Be Loved.” Randy thought his first performance was just “awright,” but the second vocal was better. Simon thought the first was better, saying the second was safe, but didn’t make much of an impact.
Jordin chose “Fighter” for her first song and “Broken Wing” for the second. Randy thought her vocal was better, but she was not as good an entertainer as Blake. Paula thought both songs were great, but Simon said “Fighter” was shrieky and that Blake won round one. He did say her second song was good.
As for the songwriters contest, I thought they picked a sappy song. No offense to the writers, but it was just…sappy. I didn’t like either version, but Blake especially seemed uncomfortable singing it. Simon and Randy both said he did what he could with it, though it was not his genre. When Jordin sang it, Simon said she wiped the floor with Blake.
So who wins? Randy said Jordin, Paula (ever her indecisive self) said both were winners, and Simon said Blake gave the best individual performance, but Jordin was the better overall singer. I know Jordin is young, cute, talented, sweet, and the better singer. But, for some reason, I’ve never felt any love for her. For this reason, all my votes are going to Blake. But, I do think Jordin will win, which is still a crock because Melinda was the best singer of the competition.
