American Idol: Jacksonville Auditions
American Idol was in Jacksonville, Florida tonight and the good seemed too few and far between. The judges only gave out 16 tickets total.
Those making the grade were Joshua Ulloa (who to me had a bit of an Otis Redding thing going on), Sharon Wilbur (who brought her dog Sasha), Julissa Veloz (Miss Florida Latina USA no less!), Jasmine Murray (Simon said she was cute, commercial, and a good singer), T.K. Hash (who had auditioned last year), and Anne Marie Boskovich. I dunno why the judges gave Anne Marie a hard time. She was a beautiful girl with a beautiful voice, but Randy told her she had a natural talent, but needed to see herself as a star. So, they sent her out to make herself over. After she changed shoes and put on some makeup, they said yes.
Those not making it were Dana Moreno (Kara had to suppress her laugh), Darin Darnell (who was just so broken up that his friend got rejected that he was in tears in front of the judges), Naomi Sykes (whose friend sat on Randy’s lap, which led Paula to sit on Simon’s lap and caused Kara to have Ryan sit on her lap), George Ramirez (a nerdy physics geek who just drew blank looks from the judges), and Michael Perelli. Michael got very, very, very upset because he couldn’t play his guitar during the audition. Thank goodness he could bring it in and sit it in front of him. He was told by the judges to get a band, but he didn’t take rejection well. When he came out, his mom tried to comfort him and he told her “Don’t touch me.” Dude, uncool, very, very, very uncool.
