American Idol: Jasmine and Jorge are Eliminated

There were 33 million votes for cast for those on “American Idol” last night. The show promised a big surprise. We knew two people would be eliminated, but what was the surprise? Ryan went through several past Idols – Chris Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson, Michael Johns, and Tamyra Grey – people who the fans thought left the show far too soon. Ryan said there is a new rule – the judges save. If unanimously decided, they could save one contestant from elimination until it got down to the Top 5. But, they could only use the save once during the season. No one will be eliminated that week, but the next week, two contestants will be eliminated.

We saw the Idols new house, a recap of last night, and the Ford video. Then finally, some results! Michael and Allison were safe. However, Jasmine was brought to the center of the stage. Matt G, who tried to leave the seats, was told by Ryan to stay where he was because we found out he was safe. Kris and Megan were told to stand up. Ryan asked Megan to come down to stand beside Jasmine because Kris was safe. Ryan said after the vote, Megan was safe. Hum, I don’t really think Megan is a better singer than Jasmine. Ryan had her sing again to allow the judges to converse as to whether to save her or not. My feelings was Jasmine was kinda like a young fish – throw her back in the ocean and let her grow a bit. Apparently the judges felt the same way – they chose not to save her. The poor little thing was in tears as Ryan consoled her.

Scott was told he was safe (yeah!). Alexis was told she was safe as well – after the judge’s comments, I was sweating that one. Danny was told to stand up – he was safe too (duh!). Anoop was asked to come to the center of the stage. Adam was next – another no brainer – he was told he was safe as well. Jorge and Lil had to stand – oh no, I knew Jorge was headed to the center of the stage. I like both of these guys! Anoop was told he was safe. Ah, bummer. I spent like 30 minutes voting for Jorge, but apparently, I was the only one. He’s a better singer than Anoop, but I guess people figured Anoop had more personality or whatever. I knew the judges wouldn’t save him (and they didn’t), but dang it, did Simon have to be so pissy about it?

Actually, I think both Jasmine and Jorge were the better singers, but I guess the voting public likes the likability of Megan and Anoop better.
