American Idol: Megan Leaves Tonight
There were over 36 million votes for “American Idol” last night. Unfortunately, I only got in three – what a slacker I am. Is anyone else picking up on a little animosity between Simon and Kara? I’ve read rumors in rag mags that she won’t be asked back next year, but I don’t know if they are true. She told a heckler last night to come up there and do what they (the judges) did. Tonight, Simon said she didn’t respect the audience. And, did you notice that even Randy admitted maybe last night’s genre was too wide for the contestants?
It was funny seeing the contestants imitate each other. Then to the serious business of who was safe, who was not. Megan, Matt, and Chris were all asked to stand up. Ryan told them to head to the far side of the stage. Then he called Adam, Lil, and Allison out to the middle of the stage. Can you see where this is going? He asked Scott, Danny, and Anoop to stand up and go to the other end of the stage.
We didn’t find out anything about the groups immediately because there was a performance by David Cook. Ryan started with Kris – he was safe. Matt learned he had to take a seat – but in the safe zone. Mean trick Ryan, mean trick. Megan was told she was in the bottom three. What was that crazy bird flapping thing she did on the way to the seats?
Lil was up next. She was safe. I like her hair like that and the outfit tonight was really pretty. Allison was told she was in the bottom three (dang it). Of course, Adam was safe (probably by millions and millions of votes). At least he seems humbled by the attention.
Of the final three, Danny was told he was safe, so it was between Scott and Anoop. Anoop was told he was in the bottom three. Guess my three votes for Scott paid off!
Allison was told to return to the couch, which meant the judges were not going to save either Anoop or Megan. Oh come on, you know it did! Anoop was told he was safe, which meant we had to hear Megan sing again.
Earlier in the night, Megan had said she didn’t care what Simon thought. When Ryan asked Simon if they were going to save Megan he said, “With the greatest respect, when you said that you didn’t care, uh, nor do we.” He then went on to say they were not even going to contemplate saving her and this was her swan song. Did she burn a bridge or what? Let that be a lesson to all future contestants!
