American Idol: The Top 24!

After the judges finished toying with the contestants (Simon accused Paula of torturing Carly Smithson with all the talk), here are your final 24:

Girls: Carly Smithson, Amanda Overmyer, Kristy Lee Cook, Brooke White, Alexandrea Lushington, Ramiele Malubay, Syesha Mercado, Kady Mallory, Amy Davis, Alaina Whitaker, Asia’h Epperson and Joanne Borgella.

Guys: David Cook, David Archuleta, Danny Noriega, Jason Castro, Luke Menard, Michael Johns, Robbie Carrico, Garrett Haley, Chikezie Eze, Jason Yeager, David Hernandez, and Colton Berry.

Surprisingly (at least to me) Josiah was cut in an “Ahh” moment. Poor kid got too over confident and admitted it, but it was too late. Colton was chosen instead of Kyle Ensley and unexpectedly, Simon said that he did not vote for Colton, but for Kyle and he was disappointed.

Honestly, I don’t recognize some of the names and faces (Jason Castro, Garrett Haley, Alaina Whitaker – anyone?), but my two favorites so far are Brooke White and Michael Johns.

I don’t feel all that sorry for Josiah – he got arrogant and cocky, a mistake of being so young. If he auditions for the next American Idol you can be sure that he won’t make the same mistakes. Can you believe him turning down help from the vocal coach? And wanting his own arrangements for the band? You know they had to tell the producers or the judges about that and that’s no good. There had to be so many other sob stories from the kids cut in Hollywood, but we only heard about Josiah. What about the poor girl from Chicago with the very ill daughter? Her father died right before she came to audition. She really needed the money to help support her daughter and her medical care. So I guess I’m just not that sorry for Josiah.
