American Idol: Top Six
For some reason, the show this week just didn’t do much for me. I am, of course, not talking about the “Idol Give Back” section. I think it is wonderful what they are doing for people both in the US and abroad. I was just talking about the performances. They were supposed to sing “songs that inspire.” Most of the contestants just inspired me to want to go to sleep.
Chris did bounce back this week with his version of “Change the World.” Randy said for the first time in a long time, he noticed Chris was “in it to win it.” Melinda got praise for “There Will Come A Day,” with Randy saying she is the resident pro and he’s just running out of things to say. Even Simon said it wasn’t a copycat performance, that she made him believe she had recorded it. Blake sang “Imagine” and I know people love that song, but for me, it just fell flat. Randy thought it was “just awight,” Paula thought it was the first sensitive performance she had seen that night, but Simon agreed with Randy, although he did say it seemed sincere. Lakisha appeared to be yelling a bit again with “I Believe.” I think she chose the wrong song as both Randy and Paula seemed to have a hard time with her singing Fantasia’s song. Phil, who was awesome last week, returned to his drony ways with “The Change.” Randy thought it was perfect, but Simon told him that country really suited him. Jordin is the one I am thinking is becoming the resident pro. She is like a little singing maching, with Randy saying it was one of the best vocals out of all six seasons.
Who’s going home? I believe we will again see Blake and Lakisha in the bottom two. And frankly, either one could go home after two weeks of lackluster performances. Since I personally voted for Blake, I will have to say Lakisha is leaving us this week.
