American Idol: Two Go Home
This week’s result show was sad. The obviously bad singers are gone and now I kinda feel for anyone that gets eliminated. We got to see three past Idols – Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, and Taylor Hicks – as a continued part of Idol Gives Back, which has raised over $70 million so far. Robin Thicker performed. I knew he was a recording artist but had never heard his music before. Now I think he watched WAY too much Prince growing up (right down to the little moustache).
Melinda, Lakisha, and Phil were all brought out on stage. Melinda was told she was safe first. Duh, no kidding. It was between Lakisha and Phil, with both looking nervous. Ryan finally told Lakisha she was staying and it was Phil leaving. He still had the same goofy grin he has had all season. It is a bit sad – this week was really one of his best performances. Next up, after a sucky song from Bon Jovi (yeah, I know they are old, but really – when did they stop rocking?), was Jordin, Blake, and Chris. Ryan spared Jordin the agony this week (after what he did to her last week) and told her she was safe. Chris and Blake admitted to being best friends, with Chris saying, “I’d go home for him” which, oddly enough, was exactly what happened.
So now it is Blake versus the Girls with Barry Gibb as next week’s special guest.
