American Idol: Who Will Make the Finals?

Tonight, each singer sang three songs – one a judge chose, one the producers chose, and one they chose themselves. Paula chose “And So It Goes” for David A. Randy thought he was dope and in the zone, Paula called it stunning, and Simon said it was predictable, but good. The second performance, the song that he chose for himself, was “With You.” Randy said it was good to see him do something new, but not sure it was the right song choice. Simon said it was like a chihuahua trying to be a tiger, not really him. His third song was “Longer” which is about twice as old as he is. Why the producers chose this one, I don’t know. Randy said it was an interesting song choice, but he was still in the zone, Paula called it lovely, and Simon said he sang it well, however the song and lyrics were horrible. He did add that he thought David A. had done enough to get into the finals.

Syesha started off with “If I Ain’t Got You,” chosen by Randy. He thought she did an amazing job and Simon said she sang it will, but tried to sound like the original. She chose to sang “Fever” but with the chair there, it was very cabaret, as Simon said. Her third song was “Hit Me Up.” Randy said it was just okay, Simon said it was better than the second song, but Paula – Paula of all people said she didn’t know if it was going to be good enough to get her into the finals!

Simon must have been smoking crack when he decided it would be a good idea for David C. to sing “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.” Strange, strange choice, but he did it well. Simon said round one went to David C. – of course, he did – it was his song choice! David C. chose to sing “Dare You to Move,” which was his typical rocker song that does nothing for me. Randy said it was not his best performance and was a bit pitchy, Paula said he got to the beginning when it hit the end, and Simon said all three singers had an okay middle round. The song chosen for David C. by the producers was “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.” Randy said it was predictable and just okay for him, Paula said “C U in the finals,” and Simon said “David C. wins the night.”

I think Syesha is going to be pushed out by the Davids. Next week – who knows which David will win?
