America’s Got Talent - the LA Auditions
“America’s Got Talent” auditions continued in Los Angeles. There were very few acts that really wowed me. I loved Johnny Come Lately – the band of 15 year olds. They rocked the audience. There were several acts that just frightened the audience. Galadin the male belly dancer amused them at first, but they turned on him quickly. They didn’t like Tika, the Valley Girl Rapper, or Jason and Nolan, the nerd violinists. Nor did they care for Hannah, who sang like Janis Joplin on crack.
The judges and audience did love Michael Strelo-Smith, the oversized singing elementary school music teacher. They also loved dancer Ivan “Urban Action Figure” but I wasn’t that impressed. They helped 75-year-old Disco Diana move on to the next round, but you can be sure that is as far as she is going. I liked Liang Patti’s plate twirling, but I wonder where she can go with it in the next round. Eli Kerr had a great magic act, with Sharon saying he was kind heavy metal magic, which he was! We will have to see how well comedian Cocoa Brown does in the next round. This time, she was talking so fast, it was hard to understand her, but her imitation of a British accent was funny.
Lil C was a good story, but like Piers said, he should drop the rapping and stick to dancing. Los Angeles brought out the drag queens, but apparently none as talented or dramatic as Leonid the Magnificent. There were two good singers – Cinda Ramseur and Manuel Romano – which we will get to see in the next round in Vegas.
